Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this page in English, when pretty much all the rest of this site is in Dutch?

Because the two most visited posts by far, are in English.

Both are technical How-To’s. The most read post explains the mechanics of USB-enumeration and how to register USB-devices under a persistent name. The second most read explains how to turn a Raspberry Pi into an SMS gateway.

Who are you?

My name is Rolf Blijleven. Recently, at the age of 61, I learned I’m a multipotentialite. I have a gift for languages and a fascination for technical stuff and science and I enjoy helping people and researching things. And I like to read, write, tinker, code, make music, and hike.

You can find my professional resumé on LinkedIn.

Is this your professional site?

Not really, but I intend to publish some work-related material here.

No.

Why is there no Contact page?

There’s an e-mail address. Write me all you like!

Why can’t I comment on posts?

Because I don’t have time to moderate. It’s not because I want to avoid comments, on the contrary.
I’m in the process of sharing new blog posts on Mastodon, via ActivityPub. How things will work out remains to be seen. I like Mastodon and I’d like to talk to people about my posts there. That’s somewhere between a wish and an experiment, for the time being.

Can I donate?

Not yet.

Are all these questions really asked frequently?
